Meet Dr. John Samas

Dr. John Samas is a New York–trained plastic surgeon with a passion for helping patients feel confident, empowered, and like the best version of themselves. As the founder of 5280 Plastic Surgery, he brings a unique combination of surgical precision, artistic vision, and personalized care to every patient interaction.
Originally from New York City, Dr. Samas began his medical journey at Stony Brook University, where he earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Philosophy. While at Stony Brook, he contributed to groundbreaking cancer research as a research associate working on targeted chemotherapy—a role that ignited his lifelong dedication to science and healing.
He earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, then completed a rigorous General Surgery residency at Nassau University Medical Center. It was there that he discovered his true calling: plastic surgery. Dr. Samas went on to receive advanced fellowship training in Plastic, Cosmetic, and Reconstructive Surgery at the renowned Long Island Plastic Surgical Group, the oldest and largest private plastic surgery practice in the United States.

In addition to clinical excellence, Dr. Samas has published research in peer-reviewed journals, received a Young Investigator Award, and presented his work at both national and international medical conferences.
After years in private practice, Dr. Samas moved to Colorado to be closer to family and embrace a more balanced lifestyle. Prior to founding 5280 Plastic Surgery, he worked with several of Denver’s top aesthetic practices. Today, he maintains hospital privileges at two North Denver hospitals and performs surgery at Panorama Surgery Center and North Metro Surgery Center.
